Regular Hygiene Visits

Visiting the dentist regularly helps to prevent dental health issues from developing. They also allow your dentist to monitor the condition of your teeth and gums and provide an opportunity for early intervention and a treatment plan.

Oral Exams

Your dentist examines your teeth, gums, and bite during your appointment. The exam may also include dental x-rays and other diagnostic procedures as required.

Cleanings

Your dental hygienist will perform a cleaning of your teeth during your appointment as well. The cleaning normally includes removing any built-up plaque and tartar between your teeth and along your gums, followed by polishing your teeth and thorough flossing.

Preventive Care at Home

Maintaining your oral hygiene between appointments is important. This includes brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time, and flossing once a day, preferably before going to bed each night. We also recommend rinsing your mouth with water after brushing and after each meal if you are unable to brush.

Fluoride | Hunter Dental | Markham Dentist

What Is Fluoride?

In dentistry, fluoride is a mineral treatment intended to try and prevent or reverse tooth decay by rebuilding the minerals that make your teeth strong.

Fluoride Treatment

Our Markham dentists provide fluoride treatment for adults who are at a higher risk of developing cavities.

Fluoride treatment normally takes a few minutes at our office. We typically advise that you avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes following your appointment so the fluoride can be fully absorbed.

Fluoride Treatment For Kids

Your child's risk of developing tooth decay will be assessed by your dentist and an appropriate level of fluoride protection will be recommended.

Oral Cancer Screening

During your appointment, your dentist should be able to identify any oral abnormalities, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Early detection is important and regular dental appointments allow us to monitor and treat any developing issues.
