What is a Bone Graft?
At Hunter Dental, our Markham dentists perform bone grafts and sinus lifts to try and improve the strength of your jaw bone.
Request An AppointmentUses for a Bone Graft
If your jaw bone is too thin or too soft to support a dental implant, your dentist may recommend a bone graft procedure. A waiting period of several months will likely be necessary after a bone graft before you will be able to have dental implant surgery.
A bone graft may also be required to regenerate bone loss from severe gum disease in order to prevent teeth from becoming too loose or falling out.
Bone grafting supports the natural growth of bone tissues. The graft material will eventually be replaced completely as the natural bone grows, creating a fully integrated new bone region.
Sinus Lifts
A sinus lift is a bone grafting procedure in which your dentist adds bone material to the upper back jaw in preparation for a dental implant.
The amount of bone in the sinus area will be increased with a sinus lift, enabling your dentist to place the implant.
